WAIT STAFF - FOC'SLE LOUNGE
LOCATION: Foc’sle Lounge, Hospitality Division, Morale, Welfare & Recreation Department, Naval Station Mayport. Florida.
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All sources. No relocation expenses.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: A flexible employee is one who serves in either a continuing or temporary (time limited) position, on a scheduled or unscheduled (as needed or intermittent) basis, up to 40 hours per week. Flexible employees are not eligible to participate in the CNIC benefit programs, nor are they entitled to earn or use leave including military leave, court leave, sick or annual leave.
WORK SCHEDULE: A rotating schedule, schedule up to 29 hours per week. Schedule will include days, nights, and weekend duty, depending on events scheduled.
DUTIES: The purpose of this position is to perform work involved in preparing dining room, or party room, serving food, wines, and other alcoholic beverages, and subsequent cleaning functions. Discusses menu with supervisor and familiarizes self with menu. Secures clean linen and silverware, depending on the menu and food to be served. Sets assigned tables, spreading clean linens and placing lasses, condiment holders, flowers, candles or lamps and silverware on table. Prepares side tables with silverware, bowls or ice and other extras that may be required during the meal. Receives guests and takes orders, answering questions about dishes or beverages. Works according to rigid time schedule, secures food from kitchen and places dishes by course in front of each person. Continues to provide service as needed and requested by guests. In some instances, following completion of meals the employee may give checks to patron who may pay cashier or wait staff. Removes soiled dishes, glasses and silverware, or requests food service worker to do so, as necessary. May perform cleaning duties as time permits, such as sweeping, moping and so forth in assigned area, or cleaning entryways. May perform janitorial, dishwashing or other functions.
Working conditions: Position requires light to moderate lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds, long periods of standing and walking, constant stooping and bending. Danger of minor burns from warming ovens, hot liquids, glassware, and food containers. Danger of slipping on wet floors.
QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated knowledge of wait staff duties. Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers. Demonstrated ability to operate a cash register and calculator. Must have a driver’s license and reliable transportation, as public transportation is not available at night. May be required to obtain First Aid/CPR certification.
*CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: SERVERS MUST SUCCESSFULLY PASS CARE” ALCOHOL SERVER TRAINING.

2. Military Spouse Preference (MSP): Qualifying spouses eligible for MSP are spouses of an active duty military member of the U.S. Armed Forces, including members of the National Guard or Reserves on active duty. The marriage must have occurred before the military member received official permanent change of station (PCS) orders to the installation listed above. MSP is applicable only when applying for NAF positions at the NF-03 and below and equivalent craft and trade (CT) positions.
To claim this preference, you MUST:
· Submit sponsor’s PCS orders to installation you are applying for; AND
· If you are not indicated as a spouse on the PCS orders, you MUST submit proof of marriage prior to PCS.
3. Veteran’s Preference/Gold Star Veteran's Preference: Qualifying military veterans, and spouses/parents of deceased veterans shall be given employment preference over non-preference applicants if they are equally qualified. Preference applicable for positions open to external candidates.
To claim Veteran's preference, you MUST:
· Submit a copy of your DD-214 (member 4 copy); AND
· Submit completed SF15 from the Veterans Administration (VA); AND
· Submit any other supporting documentation (disability, official statements, proof of service, etc)
· To claim Gold Star Veteran's preference, you MUST:
