TRACTOR OPERATOR (BALLFIELDS)
WORK SCHEDULE: Day shift, night shift, weekdays and weekends.
LOCATION: Youth Sports, Child and Youth Program Department, Naval Station Mayport, Florida.

DUTIES The incumbent operates tractor and attached or towed equipment; including, mower, trailer, tow bars, plows, harrows, spreaders and front-end loaders. Incumbent is responsible for operator maintenance on tractors, such as checking and replenishing fluids to proper levels. Mows sports fields using gas mowers, rotary mower and back blade. Moves and spreads dirt and clay using front loader and hand tools. Drags and prepares fields for various sporting events. Spreads fertilizer and grass seed. Checks irrigation system and may make minor repairs to system. Performs other ground maintenance duties as required and assigned. Performs infield grooming on the artificial turf field. Prepares all athletic fields for sporting events such as: softball, baseball, football and soccer, to include marking fields, setting goals and bases according to regulations. Ensures restroom facilities are clean and stocked. Ensures that facilities are safe and clean, including bleachers, dug-outs and fencing. Ensures adequate trash cans are available and empty. Assist other facility maintenance personnel in accomplishing other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS: Incumbent operates both the tractor and equipment and must be able to manipulate both the tractor and equipment controls at the same time. For example, incumbent must be able to operate the tractor while raising and lowering the tractor and equipment in confined areas, such as between shrubs and trees, and along fences and curbs. Additionally, operator must be able to operate the tractor and equipment under difficult conditions, such as mud and in areas where flying objects are more likely to cause clogging of the equipment. To be a tractor operator one must have a minimum of 1 year experience on all types of equipment used. Tractors are field-type tractors, typically powered with gasoline or diesel engines, have 4 wheels and up to 8 forward gears ranging in size from 18 HP to 46HP. The equipment requires multiple connections to the tractor and adjustments such as setting the depth of the plow blades or height of mower blades. Other equipment includes dump truck (average 5 tones), fork-lift, and tree spade back and front hoe tractor. Must have a valid driver’s license.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Incumbent uses frequent and repetitive arm and leg movements to operate tractor controls and equipment controls. The operator lifts and handles heavy equipment attachments when connecting them to tractor. Incumbent also lifts materials, such as bags of fertilizer and seed, weighing up to 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed outside, subject to long periods of in the sun and sometimes in inclement weather as well heat, high humidity and chilly temperatures. Normal exposure to dirt, dust and mud as well as chemical fertilizers and there is a chance of minor cuts and bruises.

2. The marriage must have occurred before the military member received official permanent change of station (PCS) orders to the installation listed above. MSP is applicable only when applying for NAF positions at the NF-03 and below and equivalent craft and trade (CT) positions.

- Submit sponsor’s PCS orders to installation you are applying for; AND
- If you are not indicated as a spouse on the PCS orders, you MUST submit proof of marriage prior to PCS.
3. Veteran’s Preference/Gold Star Veteran's Preference: Qualifying military veterans and spouses/parents of deceased veterans shall be given employment preference over non-preference applicants if they are equally qualified. Preference applicable for positions open to external candidates.
To claim Veteran's preference, you MUST:
- Submit a copy of your DD-214 (member 4 copy); AND
- Submit completed SF15 from the Veterans Administration (VA); AND
