Bowling Rec Aide/cashier

POSITION: RECREATION AIDE (MULTI-FUNCTIONS), NF-0189-01

LOCATION:  Mayport Bowling Center, MWR Department, NAVSTA Mayport, Florida.

PAY:  $10.00an hour day rate, eligible for 10%-night shift differential.

STATUS:  Flexible.  A flexible employee is one who serves in either a continuing or temporary (time limited) position, on a scheduled or unscheduled (as needed or intermittent) basis, up to 40 hours per week.  Flexible employees are not eligible to participate in the CNIC benefit programs, nor are they entitled to earn or use leave including military leave, court leave, sick or annual leave.

SCHEDULE:  A rotating schedule 0-29 hours per week that will include days, nights, weekends or holidays.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All sources.  No relocation expenses.

DUTIES: The incumbent, regardless of job assignment, is responsible to provide quality customer service to all telephone and on-site customer inquiries regarding the bowling center and related MWR issues.  The incumbent, regardless of job assignment, is responsible for keeping a clean and organized work area.  The incumbent, when assigned to the front counter of the bowling center or the snack bar counter is responsible for collecting and accounting for all cash and prepares a DAR at the end of the shift.  When assigned to the front counter, the incumbent is responsible for a variety of duties including, but not limited to, the following:

  1. issuing lanes for both league and open play use

  2. renting of house rental shoes

  3. updating locker rental records

  4. maintaining a waiting list for lanes

  5. ringing up pro shop sales from the pro shop

  6. collecting of fees from related duties

  7. responding to basic pin calls such as:ball returns, pin jams, dead wood etc.The incumbent will be trained on how to clear sensor shutdowns and return the pinsetter to normal operation.The incumbent will receive training on the pinsetter so that he or she can accomplish these tasks.(Time spent on this task less than 5%)

     

When assigned to the snack bar counter, the incumbent is responsible for a variety of duties including, but not limited to, the following:

  1. selling beer, wine, mixed drinks, soda, and related beverages

  2. collecting of fees related to the sale of snack bar items

  3. re-stocking coolers and freezers on an as needed basis

  4. cleaning snack bar counter and seating area

  5. sweeping and mopping floor as needed and at end of shift

  6. notifying the manager regarding food and paper supplies that need to be replenished

  7. maintaining temperature logs on freezers and reefers

  8. assisting the snack bar cook as needed in preparing frozen food products utilizing a flat grill, deep fryer, or microwave oven per manufacturer’s instructions and following proper food sanitation guidelines (only occurs 10% of the time)

The incumbent, regardless of job assignment, may also be assigned tasks related to the general housekeeping of the facility including taking out the trash and recyclables, cleaning the restrooms, wiping down the counters, cleaning the lounge, and vacuuming the facility.  The incumbent, regardless of job assignment, performs other related duties as assigned by management as they pertain to the smooth, clean and efficient operation of the bowling center.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Depending upon job assignment, work is performed in a bowling center environment that includes a full-service snack bar and pinsetter area involving noise and stress. Prior cash handling experience and food service experience is preferred.  Must be neat in appearance and possess the ability to handle and communicate with the public.  Must be 18 years of age.

2. The marriage must have occurred before the military member received official permanent change of station (PCS) orders to the installation listed above. MSP is applicable only when applying for NAF positions at the NF-03 and below and equivalent craft and trade (CT) positions.

To claim this preference, you MUST:

  • Submit sponsor’s PCS orders to installation you are applying for; AND

  • If you are not indicated as a spouse on the PCS orders, you MUST submit proof of marriage prior to PCS.

3. Veteran’s Preference/Gold Star Veteran's Preference: Qualifying military veterans, and spouses/parents of deceased veterans shall be given employment preference over non-preference applicants if they are equally qualified. Preference applicable for positions open to external candidates.
