In honor of USS Saratoga (CV-60), Naval Station Mayport’s first aircraft carrier, MWR Mayport will be hosting the inaugural Saratoga Classic Half Marathon on February 3, 2019.  This event will be open to the public, bringing the Jacksonville and military communities together while providing a truly unique experience for all. The run will begin onboard Naval Station Mayport and then continue out the Main Gate towards HWY 116.  The run will continue onto HWY 116 across the Wonderwood Bridge and then loop back to the base where runners will finish next to some of the Navy’s finest ships. Race registration will begin on September 1, 2018 to the public for only $40.  Prices will increase incrementally until the final registration date of January 31, 2019.

About USS Saratoga (CV-60)

USS Saratoga was the first carrier homeported at Naval Station Mayport, spending her entire career here (1957-1994). She operated through the Vietnam War, Operation Gulf Storm, and many other conflicts. In honor on USS Saratoga’s fighting spirit, we are pleased to name Mayport’s first half marathon in her honor.
